Throughout history there has always been a dominant currency. The US dollar is just the latest in a long line. The dominant currency is usually associated with the most powerful economy and empire at the time. Rome, Amsterdam, Madrid, London, New York, and more are the cities that resonate with the empire as the financial capital. Theirs become the world's currency circulating around the globe. But, their day in the sun eventually comes to end and with the end of the domination of their currency their empire also comes to end. Will the US dollar eventually meet the same fate?

Over the past decade, the ETF industry has seen exponential growth in the number of ETFs available and in total assets, fueled by an expanding base of investors incorporating ETFs into their portfolios. ETFs can have varying tax impacts on an investor's portfolio, depending on country of listing, structure of the ETF, and the investor account type. Join Prerna Chandak of Mackenzie Investments to learn more about key tax considerations in using ETFs and how best to optimize your portfolio.

This breakthrough medical treatment has the potential to reverse diseases which cause suffering and death for over 50% of all adults worldwide, including heart disease, strokes, diabetic foot ulcers, Parkinsons disease, Alzheimers disease, and multiple sclerosis. We are in an environment of extreme uncertainty. While it's a challenge to craft an outlook during a pandemic, Kristina Hooper will explore a number of possible recovery scenarios. The shape of the recovery is of course dependent on a variety of factors: infection rates, fiscal policy, monetary policy, public health policy (including the stringency of lockdowns), and progress toward the development of therapies and a vaccine. It is also impacted by consumer and business behavior. Ms. Hooper will explore all these factors and discuss how we arrived at our base case scenario. She will also discuss investment implications.

Covid-19 has depressed global economic projections for 2020, dragging Canada down with it. Real GDP is forecast to fall 6.5% in 2020, according to Action Economics, which is deeper than the 4.0% decline expected for the US. Like the rest of the world, however, economists anticipate a turnaround in 2021 on the order of 5.0%. Despite paralleling the US economic undulations, the S&P/TSX 60's rolling 5-year relative strength hugs the minus-1 standard deviation level, as it has since 2013. Should investors continue to avoid our neighbors to the north, or are there pockets of individual-stock and ETF opportunities? Sam Stovall, chief investment strategist of CFRA Research, and author of The Seven Rules of Wall Street, will discuss his Canadian sector rotation model and introduce investors to CFRA's stock reports on Canadian-listed firms and the 800 Canadian-listed equity and fixed income ETFs.

Keeping a "balanced" portfolio—60% stocks, 40% bonds—is one of the investing world's most tried-and-true strategies for managing risk. But is this classic approach still relevant in this era of ultra-low yields and longer life spans? Investment markets changed a lot over the years, but most investment strategies haven't adapted. Today, investors are not only struggling to solve the diversification dilemma, but they also need to juice up performance if they are to reach their financial goals. Join us for this timely panel discussion on how to strategically allocate your investments beyond the traditional mix of stocks and bonds to achieve long-term growth with a reasonable level of risk.

Blackrock Gold Corp., (TSXV: BRC) (OTC: BKRRF) is focused on its Nevada portfolio of properties consisting of low-sulfidation epithermal gold and silver projects located along on the established Northern Nevada Rift in north-central Nevada, and the Walker Lane trend in western Nevada. Our flagship Tonopah West property amasses the largest package of claims within the historic Tonopah silver district, one of the largest silver districts in North America. Blackrock is the first group to conduct modern exploration back to the district, targeting the historic workings for the first time since production shut down in the 1940s due to low metals prices. Hole 1, from the ongoing 7,000m drill program, returned multiple significant intercepts, including 3 metres grading 2,198 g/t silver equivalent, in addition to 29 metres grading 965 g/t silver equivalent. Assays are pending from additional holes from this program.
